With over a decade of IT experience and a doctorate in national-scale systems development, Chris is responsible for the management and evolution of UKFast's cloud infrastructure, as well as the development of new products. A specialist in the development and deployment of large scale VMware infrastructure, Chris has a particular interest in high-performance storage solutions and cloud optimisation.
After four years teaching at schools in Greater Manchester, Arlene joined the Training, Education and Development team at UKFast to help transform IT education in the North West. Arlene and the team work with 60 schools and more than 60,000 students in the region to promote digital education. The programme that they are building includes a double award-winning apprenticeship scheme and has developed UKFast’s own workforce into one of the most qualified cloud technology teams in the country.
Inma Martinez is a world leading technologist and industry recognised digital visionary, specialising in the effects of A.I. and Automation, Man-Machine Collaborations and the accelerated digitalisation of life and business. She pioneered 1:1 personalisation in the early days of the mobile Internet and has been credited as part of the original development teams behind wearable technologies, “widgets”, the “connected car” and smart cities development.
Fortune and TIME have described Martinez as one of Europe’s top talents in social engagement through technology and in 2018 she was listed at #1 amongst “The Top 10 Women Changing The Landscape Of Data In 2018” by Enterprise Management 360. Last year she spoke at a TedxTalk conference and she frequently advises governments and private businesses on how to address their digital challenges - Martinez is currently an advisor to the board at the All Parliamentary Party Group on A.I. at the House of Lords, and to the EU Commission on A.I. and the misuse of citizen data in light of new GDPR policies.
Matt has a true passion for making things secure and is a firm believer that security is not just a technology problem but one with complex sociological and psychological facets. A former British Army Captain, Matt served in the Royal Corps of Signals and brings over two decades of experience in the information security field. He has worked for government, vendors, end-user organisations and consultancies seeing the security landscape from many sides. As a former scientific advisor to the UK government he has shaped both policy and technology in matters of information security. Bringing the concept of a community-driven information security event to the UK, he co-founded the Security BSides London event in 2011 and also co-founded and continues to run Security BSides Manchester.
